FAQ:

How can I arrange for an assessment?

You can either telephone me on 07522 855 756, or complete the contact form.

How long will each session last?

Each session is for 50 minutes.

For children aged 4 to 9, the length of sessions will be discussed with the Parents/Guardians and the child to work around what is comfortable for the child. Subject to this, and progress the sessions can slowly be extended.

How many sessions are required?

The length of treatment depends on each client’s needs.

Is treatment cared by my health insurance?

This primarily depends on your health insurance. It is important to check with your provider to see if therapy is covered, the number of sessions they will cover and if there are any other requirements the provider has.

Do I have to pay for missed sessions?

If you decide to have therapy after the initial assessment, I will reserve that specific time slot for your child each week. This means that no other appointments can be booked for that time. Therefore, if the appointment is not cancelled 48 hours prior to the time slot, a fee will be charged for the missed session. This will be discussed with you at the initial assessment and also in our agreement contract. However, if there are any emergencies this can be discussed.

What if my child reports any harm to self or to others?

At the initial assessment a risk assessment will be completed. This will give me, the client and parents/guardians an indication of the level of risks involved and the opportunity to devise a safety plan if deemed necessary.

However, if your child discloses any information that is causing them harm, in danger to self or to others, then I will be immediately following the safe guarding protocols — this is in our agreement contract.

Having assessed all the information at the initial assessment, I will inform you if I find that your child’s risks are above the moderate range. If so, this would preclude treatment with me. I will however advise you if your child requires psychiatric intervention, and would be happy to discuss other options to support your child. As I am not a qualified medical clinician, I cannot work with children who have severe complex needs that require a team around them, especially psychiatry. However, I will support you through this process so that you feel safe and confident in how to access support.

Is the service accommodating for children with physical disabilities?

Unfortunately, the venue is not able to accommodate children with physical disabilities; this is due to there being no lift access. However, I am able to conduct home-visits and can discuss with you further in how I can support your child’s needs.
